Ordination Ministry Journey
Ordination Ministry Journey
My name is Janice Barry, and I am on an ordination ministry journey. I grew up in South Florida in the USA and have been residing in the Atlanta, Georgia, area for the last 26 years. I am the mother of two adult sons. I was married for 21 years and have been divorced for the last 11 years. I currently work in a level one trauma center performing cardiac EKG’s and arrhythmia monitoring in the neuroscience center for stroke patients. I also operate my own business as a BLS/AED Resuscitation Educator for healthcare providers. I am also teaching grade school children in private and public schools the proper form and technique for compressions-only CPR.
Back in 2010, from the outside looking in you would have thought that my life was grand. By 2012, I was at a point in my life where I felt hopeless and was giving up on everything including my life. I gave my life over to the Lord and was transformed into a strong person with a zest for life and the will to go on. I feel strongly that if I can go from someone who wanted to die to someone with a strong will to live than others can experience this as well. I need to find the people who are giving up on life and make them realize that it can all turn around. I want to make a difference. I want to save lives. Circumstances should have ended my life many times over, but I am still here! God has me alive for a purpose. I will make a difference and I will bring the lost to the shore.
My passion has always been to “give”. It brings me joy to help those in need. Christian Leaders Institute will give me the knowledge and tools I need to go out and minister. I want to dedicate the rest of my life bringing others to the Lord and helping them learn to walk by the Spirit. I need this ministry education to mold and prepare me for God’s work in ministry. After completing the Christian Leaders Connection class, I feel excited about this ordination ministry journey that I am embarking upon. The course has inspired me to send a text message of favorite scripture passages every morning to my two adult sons who both live in another part of the country. I plan to do this daily to a point where they automatically expect to receive it. I feel it will draw us closer and open the door for communication about God.
After completing the minister ordination course and ordination with Christian Leaders Alliance, I feel confident about going out into the community to minister. I will begin with care packets and be feeding the many homeless that are around my place of employment along with literature and encouragement. I will be engaging in visitation ministry in the hospital setting for patients and their families with a long-term goal of reaching out to incarcerated woman and people dealing with substance abuse. I am happy to be a part of Christian Leaders Institute. It has given me knowledge, insight and a foundation to build on and I look forward to what the future has for me.
