Deacon Ordination

Deacon Ordination Story

My name is Gillian Cain, though I am known to everyone as Gill. I am 57 years old and I am enthusiastic about deacon ordination. I am a qualified social worker who has spent the past 15 years working in Mental Health services. I have worked in Community Mental Health Teams as well as forensic and secure hospitals. More recently, I have been led to work with Children and Adolescent inpatient services as an NHS England Specialised Commissioning Case Manager.

Jesus called to me when I was 14 years old, and I gave my life to Him on that day. However, the way has not been smooth and I have spent many years trying to follow Jesus but sometimes getting lost and wandering in the wilderness. Despite my willful and rebellious nature, Jesus has lovingly sought me out and drawn me back to Himself. In my 20s, I heard the call to service but I was tempted and deceived and did not faithfully follow my calling. Even when we are faithless God is faithful and when I turned to Him in repentance He was there with love and salvation. Again, Jesus has asked me to be obedient and follow His call to deacon ordination.

I spent a long time looking for a church family to join for worship and the Holy Spirit eventually led me to the right church. Then He called me to serve with Dove Gospel Global an international movement of churches sharing the love of Jesus and supporting the work of the Kingdom across the nations. For several years I have ministered as part of the Care Team and by serving as Care Team Director, I have helped to lead an international team of Christians to provide 24/7 prayer and encouragement over the telephone.

I praise God that He led me to Christian Leaders Institute, and in obedience, I enrolled because CLI is giving me the opportunity to complete the formal theological training I need to do the work I believe the Lord is calling me to. I could never have afforded to pay for the courses and without CLI it would not have been possible for me to pursue formal qualification and deacon ordination. I don’t yet know where God is leading me or the full extent of the work to which I am called but wherever He calls, this time I say “Here I am, Lord. Send me.”
