Ordained Ministry Leader

Ordained Ministry Leader

My name is Catherine Camelo and I am called to be an ordained ministry leader. I´m 33 years-old and I´ve been happily married to Robert for the last 13 years, we have an 11-year-old daughter, Mary Anne, and I´m expecting another baby girl. We are from Colombia, however, we moved to Mexico in July 2012. That is where God called me to homeschool my beautiful daughter. So I quit my job to follow that call.

I believe the time in Mexico was the best time as a Christian, because, even though, I gave my life to Jesus in 2005, I didn´t live as a Christian, I mean, if you call yourself a Christian, you must have the character of Christ and how can you do that if you don´t really know Jesus through His Word? Therefore, it wasn’t until I started to attend church more often, receive discipleship, and do my daily devotionals, that I really fell in love with my Savior. As I started to know more about Jesus, I felt the need to serve at my church. Because I was receiving so much grace, I needed to share it with everyone else. So I began to serve in the kid’s ministry, the usher ministry, and I had the opportunity to serve as a leader in the homeschool ministry.

Just a month ago, the Lord called us to move to Canada. As soon as we got here, we found a church where we have the opportunity to serve as ushers, but I feel the need to have a formal biblical education. The calling to the ministry came when I started to know more about Jesus a few years ago. When I got to Canada, I was able to see that I had a thirst for knowing more about God´s Word. On my ordained ministry leader journey, I wanted to be trained to be able to teach it with more confidence and more diligently, especially to women. Therefore, I want to lead women to His Word so they can find joy in the roles God has given them.

A scholarship at Christian Leaders Institute is a blessing for my life. I love to learn about God and I believe that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov 9:10). So the more I know about my Lord, the more I’ll be able to obey him and live for him. Moreover, being an ordained ministry leader will allow me to serve him in a more formal manner at my church. In regard to the Deacon Minister Ordination offered by CLI, I believe this is a huge step in my Christian leader’s education. I believe I am called to serve my community, and this program has taught me the basics of how to serve properly, centered on Christ and His perfect love. Currently, I have the opportunity to serve in my local church, where there is not a well-established leadership ministry, despite my pastor´s best efforts. Therefore, I´ll have the chance and the challenge to start from scratch. This CLI training is a big blessing and tool to get the knowledge to fulfill God´s calling for my life. Thank you very much, Christian Leaders Institute, for providing this training to motivate Christians from all over the world to follow God´s calling.
