Spiritual Journey to Ordination

Spiritual Journey to Ordination

My Spiritual Journey to Ordination at CLA

My name is Johan Jacobs from South Africa, and here is the story of my spiritual journey to ordination. When I made a commitment to serve God more than 25 years ago, I never thought that I would consider being ordained in any ministry role. To be ordained was never a goal in my ministry walk with God. My view on this was, “If I have the Bible then I am good to go.” However, thinking back I  realize what a mess my life was.

Struggles in my Spiritual Journey to Ordination

I spent more time in the “belly of the whale” than I want to admit. Over the years, it was easy for me to forget what God says in his word. Isaiah 43:1 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” But God never forgets. I knew Him as a loving Father who wants the best for me as it says in Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

After 25 years and many failures in my walk with God, I know one thing for sure. God does not do background checks to see if you did something wrong. He is not an FBI or CIA agent. He is God Almighty. All he wants is for us to be like the sinner next to Jesus on the cross who had ONE request. “Please, remember me!!!”

Study at CLI and Ordination with CLA

Finding the Christian Leaders Institute was instrumental in my spiritual journey to ordination. The courses have encouraged me to take the step of ordination. Strengthening my walk with God has helped me on my spiritual journey to ordination at CLA.

However, getting the confirmation letters was one of my biggest challenges yet. It was not because of a lack of enough people in my life to write something, but the fear of failure. I was afraid of people telling me I failed them. It was also the fear of them telling me my walk with God is a disappointment to them. Ultimately, it was a fear of failing God.

But, that did not happen. Being ordained with the Christian Leaders Alliance means so much to me. Not because of the title, but because I have been set apart. I am chosen by God to follow in His footsteps and proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Thank you, CLI and CLA!
