Chaplaincy Journey

Chaplaincy Journey with CLI and CLA

My name is Toni Corbiere, and God is guiding me on my chaplaincy journey. I live in Reno, Nevada, married for 18 years and a mother of three incredible boys. Chaplaincy is my calling, which God revealed to me two years ago when I came face to face with the consequences of a sinful life. Leaving my former life behind, being born again, and embracing my calling has been a beautiful, fruitful blessing.

Training at CLI and Ordination with CLA on My Chaplaincy Journey

I began my ministry training with the Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) in December of 2018. I have completed 30 classes to date, have received 14 awards, including becoming an Ordained Deacon Minister and Ordained Associate Chaplain Minister with the Christian Leaders Alliance. Currently, I am working on my Licensed Chaplain Minister credentials, along with my bachelor’s degree in Chaplaincy. I also enjoy leading a Bible study with my family and teaching youth ministry to my children.

Ministering to My Father and Others

God blessed me with the most beautiful experience of being a chaplain to my father, who passed in April 2020 from pancreatic cancer. I sat near my father’s bedside days before he passed. I prayed over him and listened to his final words. Had I been living in my sinful life during my father’s battle, I would have missed so much and not been able to be there for him as God intended. I am at peace with my father’s passing, for the Lord was with us during that time. God taught us to appreciate our last moments together, to grieve with one another during the process, and to accept the Lord’s will with trust and love.

Currently, I mentor incarcerated men and women through Crossroads Ministries. I also serve as Chaplain for One Bread Foundation, Inc, which raises funds to fight human trafficking and rehabilitate children rescued from sex trafficking in the United States.

Fulfilling my calling as a Chaplain has been a humbling experience. Growing closer to Jesus has helped me overcome my sin and past hurts, forgive my offenders, and myself. I love every opportunity God blesses me with to serve someone who is struggling and offer them an ear, encouragement, and sometimes silent support.

Free Training at CLI is a Blessing on My Chaplaincy Journey

CLI has allowed me to fulfill my calling and not break the bank. When I began looking at chaplaincy programs, I was overwhelmed with the cost of such programs. I kept thinking I was never going to start pursuing my calling as I couldn’t afford it. One day, I was googling Christian schools and stressing over the fact that I felt like I couldn’t answer my calling. That day, God led me to CLI.

At first, I thought it was too good to be true. However, then I read a lot about the school, its accreditation, and the fact that most of the classes were free! I prayed about it, and God answered “YES”! So I pursued my education with CLI, and I am glad I did! CLI offers excellent support, their communication is fantastic, and they encourage you along the way. God bless CLI founders and support staff!
