Field Minister Ordination: Your Path to Local Ministry Leadership

“But he who is greatest among you will be your servant.”
—Matthew 23:11 (WEB)

Are you called to serve as a local elder, deacon, or ministry leader in your church or community? Do you feel a tug on your heart to lead, support, and build up the Body of Christ—yet you need the training and credentials to step forward with confidence?

The Field Minister Ordination through the Christian Leaders Institute (CLI) and the Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA) offers you a practical, Spirit-led path to become recognized as a servant-leader in your community.

What Is the Field Minister Role?

The Field Minister role—formerly known as the Deacon Minister—is designed for those who are already active in ministry, whether in formal church settings or through grassroots outreach. This program provides the recognition, training, and accountability to support your calling.

Field Ministers often serve as:

Lay leaders

Elders or deacons

Small group leaders

Volunteer ministry workers

Community chaplains or mentors

If you’re already ministering, the Field Minister credential validates and equips you to serve with greater confidence and clarity.

Why “Field Minister” Instead of “Lay Minister”?

Some churches use the term Lay Minister, and that’s still welcome within this program. But at CLA, we emphasize the title Field Minister to reflect a biblical truth:

All believers are part of God’s clergy.

This credential breaks down the wall between “clergy” and “laity,” encouraging every follower of Jesus to be equipped for works of service—whether volunteer or professional.

A Real Story of Impact: Enoch Mthimunye, Field Minister in South Africa

Enoch Mthimunye, from Pretoria in Gauteng Province, South Africa, is a passionate Christian leader devoted to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through his participation in the Field Minister Ordination program (formerly known as the Deacon Minister track), Enoch found the training and recognition that matched his calling and ministry goals.

“Every opportunity to preach and teach the Word is a chance to bring His light to others,” Enoch shared.

For Enoch, this ordination isn’t just about gaining a title—it’s about walking in obedience. As he launches his Romance Officiant ministry, the Field Minister credential through CLI and CLA provides him with the credibility and spiritual authority needed to minister at weddings, counsel couples, and serve his community with theological depth and compassion.

“This ordination is not just a title but a blessing, affirming my commitment to serve God’s people through officiating weddings, offering spiritual guidance, and fostering faith-filled relationships grounded in Christian values.”

God is clearly expanding Enoch’s ministry. He has been receiving more invitations to speak at weddings, community events, and church gatherings. He’s also been actively involved in counseling couples and families, helping them strengthen their relationships through Christ.

“My ministry is steadily growing, and with each step, I see the impact God’s Word is having on the lives of those around me.”

Enoch credits Christian Leaders Institute with giving him practical tools in leadership, theology, and pastoral care—all without financial burden.

“This free ministry training and ordination have been foundational for the future of my ministry. I’ve gained practical skills that equip me not only for local ministry but also to build up communities, strengthen families, and bring more people into a relationship with Christ.”

As he continues forward, Enoch invites others to pray for him:

“Please pray for wisdom and guidance as I continue to develop my ministry and step into new opportunities… and for strength as I balance my family responsibilities with my call to ministry.”
