Feature Story: Kevin Barker’s Licensed Ministry Officiant Journey

Kevin Barker and his wife have been married for nearly 20 years, faithfully expanding their ministry together in their local community. Over the last few years, they’ve shared their lives and faith with many people, and the call to do more in ministry has only grown stronger.

But Kevin soon realized that while he was free to talk about God and spread the Gospel, he wasn’t legally permitted to officiate a wedding ceremony—something that became a personal challenge when close friends asked him to perform their wedding.

“Without the training and license, I couldn’t do what they asked,” Kevin said. “That’s when I knew it was time to pursue a licensed ministry officiant credential.”Licensed Ministry Officiant Story

Kevin chose the Christian Leaders Institute and Christian Leaders Alliance because he didn’t want a meaningless license from a random website. He wanted formal, biblical training that aligned with God’s standards. Through CLI, he began working toward both his Licensed Wedding Officiant and Licensed Ministry Officiant credentials.

“With this additional license, I’ve added credibility to my ministry and expanded my abilities. Ministering, consulting, and providing chaplaincy to those in need has become even more important to our household.”

What Kevin appreciates most about CLI is its accessibility. The program’s free training model allows him to focus more on giving back to others in need, especially those often forgotten in his city. He and his wife are committed to continuing their support of CLI through the Vision Partner Program.

“Ministering to the forgotten and bringing them the Gospel is what matters most. CLI gives us the tools to do that—and more.”
