Serving a Rural Church

When Couples Began Asking Aaron About Marriage

Aaron Wurgler had recently become the interim pastor of a small rural church in Iowa when several young couples began approaching him about getting married.

Those conversations introduced a new responsibility within his pastoral ministry. Aaron wanted to prepare intentionally so he could serve couples well as they moved toward marriage.

Looking for Preparation

Friends Pointed Him Toward Christian Leaders

Aaron reached out to friends for guidance about how to prepare for officiating weddings in his pastoral role. Those conversations eventually led him to Christian Leaders Institute.

He enrolled in wedding officiant training and completed the course as part of his preparation to serve couples in his church.

Moving From Training to Ministry

Preparing Couples Before the Wedding Day

Aaron’s preparation was not limited to learning how to lead a wedding ceremony. At the time of his testimony, he had also begun meeting with a couple for premarital counseling.

Wedding ministry gave Aaron another opportunity to walk alongside people in his church before, during, and beyond the ceremony itself.

Aaron’s Faith Journey

Coming to Faith Through a Christian Music Concert

Aaron became a Christian while he was in junior high school. His parents took him to a Christian music concert where the band shared the gospel, and Aaron became convinced that Jesus Christ was his Savior.

A Continuing Journey of Faith

Since that time, Aaron says his life has been a journey of growing in faith, sharing Jesus with others, and discovering his place in God’s story.

Ministry Close to Home

Wedding Ministry as Another Way to Bless His Church

Aaron speaks warmly about the local church where he serves. Wedding officiant preparation became another way for him to care for the people he already knew and loved within that community.

“Becoming an official Christian Wedding Officiant will help me bless and serve the people that I hold so dear in my church.”

Equipping a Pastor to Serve Couples

Turning a Ministry Need Into an Opportunity to Grow

Aaron did not begin wedding officiant training simply to add another title. The need arose naturally from his pastoral work as couples in his church began preparing for marriage.

His training supported a ministry role he was already living out: teaching, counseling, caring for people, and helping members of his church enter important new seasons of life.

Serving Couples Through Pastoral Ministry

Preparing to Serve the People God Placed Around Him

Aaron Wurgler’s wedding officiant story grew directly out of his love for the local church and his pastoral responsibility toward the people he serves.

As couples approached him about marriage, Aaron responded by seeking training, beginning premarital counseling, and preparing himself to support them through a meaningful Christian wedding ministry.
