His Early Journey

Raised in Johannesburg During a Difficult Season

Lucas was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, as the second of seven children. In his original testimony, he described coming to a breaking point during the years of segregation and apartheid in South Africa.

Before his life changed, Lucas says much of his attention was focused on going out, drinking, partying, and spending time in situations that often led him in unhealthy directions.

A Turning Point

Choosing a Different Direction in 1992

In December 1992, Lucas made the decision to change the direction of his life and begin attending an Apostolic Faith church. He describes this season as the time when he met Jesus and began experiencing lasting change.

Lucas wrote that his desire to drink and smoke disappeared as his Christian faith became central to his life. By the time of his original testimony, he had been active in church for nearly three decades.

What began as a personal transformation became the foundation for years of Christian service and leadership.

Serving Together

Building a Family and Serving as Pastors

Lucas later met and married his wife, Emily, who was born and raised in Limpopo, South Africa. Together they were blessed with three children: one daughter and two sons.

Lucas and Emily also serve together as pastors in their local church. At the time of his testimony, Lucas said they had already been ministering for ten years.

Their ministry included gathering young people to participate in a brass band and serving in the church’s counseling ministry, particularly in areas connected with marriage.

A Desire to Keep Learning

Biblical Study Opened the Door to Christian Leaders

Lucas discovered Christian Leaders Institute while completing Bible studies through WBS. He wrote that he completed all seven studies and continued looking for additional Christian ministry preparation.

Looking for Ministry Recognition That Matched His Beliefs

Lucas was seeking ministry recognition for his organization that aligned with his Christian values and beliefs. He said he found that opportunity through Christian Leaders.

Expanding His Ministry Service

Preparing to Officiate Weddings Through His Ministry

Wedding officiant preparation became another part of Lucas’s broader ministry journey. He wanted to be equipped to officiate weddings through the ministry organization he was entrusted to help lead.

Rather than seeing wedding ministry as a separate calling, Lucas connected it with his existing pastoral service, marriage counseling experience, and desire to continue learning.

Lucas saw Christian Leaders as a place where teaching and training could continue equipping him for the ministry he had been entrusted to lead.

A Continuing Ministry Journey

Seeking More Opportunities to Learn and Serve

Lucas’s goals extended beyond completing one credential or one area of study. In his testimony, he expressed interest in continuing with additional Christian Leaders courses after preparing to officiate weddings.

His journey demonstrates a pattern of continuing biblical study, serving his family and church, and pursuing training that can strengthen the ministry responsibilities already placed before him.

Faith, Family, and Ministry Leadership

A Life Redirected Toward Christian Service

Lucas Phillip Moeketsi’s Christian ministry story reaches far beyond wedding officiating. It includes personal transformation, decades of church involvement, marriage and family, pastoral leadership, youth ministry, counseling, and continued biblical education.

Wedding ministry became another opportunity for Lucas to build on that foundation and continue preparing to serve the people and ministry entrusted to his care.
